fondu / dog race

here are some more photos... we had recently a fondu evening. it was great fun (and quite delicious!); but the heawon (korea) and taras (ukraine) were a bit confused... and geul (also korea) realised how good kirsch is... hehe

last week we went to a dog race. that was also great fun! ...and i won. not much, but i think i covered the costs (entrance fee and beer)...

sorry, i dont have any pictures yet. i will load some up asap. but thats a great opportunity to write a bit more...

i realised that i wrote a lot about going out etc. and i toatally forgot to write about museums etc. its great here, a lot of facilities and normally you dont have to pay a penny. recently we went to the national portrait gallery (pop art exhibitoin - it was great!!), tate modern (sponsored by ubs. terrible - they are everywhere!!! ;) ), the draywalk gallery (sptalfield & bricklane market - i come back to this later),... we also went to the st. martins university (the birthplace of all the future creative people. a lot of fashion designers, artists etc. studied there).

oh, lets write about spitalfield & bricklane market. first i have to say `wow`!! its amazing there. the shops (a lot of little shops with a lot of things you dont need and which are very expensive... there are also a lot of vintage stores with sooo cool stuff. oh, and yesterday we discovered an astounding cd store, called rough trade.) , the stalls (there is a stall selling brownies. i just say delicious!!!!!!!!), the people, the style, the restaurants (hot tipp: story deli. the produce orcanic pizzas and make really good coffe (thats not naturally for london!!!) and its extremely cool arranged inside...) ...

whats more? hm, of course we discovered some more pubs (up here in highgate are a lot of lovely old pubs) and bars (recently the favela chic, a dj bar, and the caipirinha jazz bar, a little bar near my accommondation). but i wont bother you with this again...

hm, what i am doing this week. certainly i am going to the cinema again (eastern promisses probably), on thursday we wanted to go to a fashion show, i think a have to go to boogaloo again ;) ...

here are some more pix... this time we had a nice party at boogaloo (i mentioned it last time. it is such a cool place. very bohemian... there are often live gigs of amazing bands... by the way, boogaloo used to be chris martin`s (coldplay) local pub (tsss, was fuer ein schwacher ausdruck fuer stammkneipe!!!)). anyway, enjoy the pix... see you :)

the first band was very funny. the played a kind of indie rock

yes i am still alive... and i experienced a lot. please enjoy a small resume!

school: hm... what can i write about school... let`s go on to the next topic.

clubs: definitively a better issue. last weekend we (michi & marina + carlos & iris; friends from switzerland who visited me) went to chinawithe - one of these famouse little private clubs near picadilly circus. it was very snobby and sooo expensive (oh my god!!!) but we had a whale of a time!
the weekend before i went with some classmates to heaven club near charing cross (that was on friday) - nice evening. on saturday moto (flatmate), chris, daniele (friends from school) and i originally wanted to watch the rubgy match france - england (rubgy is so popular here, and its fun to watch it, although i don`t understand anything) but then we went clubbing again; fabric club this time (it was great!!!).

pubs: we discovered some nice pubs in our nighbourhood... examples:
- st. johns thats about 100 meters away from my host`s (very practical)
- boogaloo. a lovely pub with a familiar atmosphere and often live music. i ve heard that kate & pete were there recently.
- ...

shopping: in this matter is london unbeatable!!! here are so many cool shops... my favourite areas are carnaby street and covent garden. but i also love the markets (camden and portobello for exemple)...

what`s more?... after three weekes i didn`t do any exercise i begun to go to the gym again. finally... if not i`d detoanted i think ;)

2nd week

hello everybody

here is my second report... a lot happend since last monday.

tuesday i went to the center again (buckingham palace, regent street and oxford street)... in the evening i met claudio (collegue from geneva) at intercontinental. it was quite funny... then we went to the hotel bar of four season for a `schlummertrunk`...

wednesday we wanted to go to a museum but the weather was too good (yes, sounds strange, but it is true) so we had a cup of coffee outside and enjoyed the sun... in the evening we watched a film (hot fuzz)...

thursday i went to the center again and in the evening we went to zoo club at leicester square. patrick (collegue from zurich) was there too...

friday afternoon we had no school so we went to alexandria park near muswell hill and had a picnic. in the evening we went to the notorious church pub and lateron to the village club.

saturday: we went to notting hill to enjoy the famous portobello market. it is sooo cool... there are a lot of things to see and buy. in the evening we were in a cool dj bar at camden locks :) the dj played some funny funcky-jazzy house stuff (i didnt know before)...

my sunday begun late... we went just to hyde park and enjoyed the good weather again...

tonight i am going to the cinema again... they show zodiac...

1. woche

hallo leute

alles klar bei euch? bei mir soweit schon... die ersten eindruecke (siehe letzter eintrag) haben sich bestaetigt... mir gefaellts immer noch :) wir gehen ziemlich oft ins zentrum und haben schon einiges unternommen... hier ein kleines resumee der wichtigsten punkte.

schule: ist oke, das beste sind halt wirklich die praesenz zeiten 9-16 hehe. die leute sind auch cool... habens die ganze zeit ziemlich lustig.

ausgang: camden town (waren unter der woche in einigen kleineren bars und pubs und am freitag im legendaeren barfly (die geburtsstaette namhafter indiebands)) und highbury & islington (da waren wir am samstag in der medicine bar; ziemlich coole location) haben wir schon unsicher gemacht, der rest folgt an den kommenden wochenenden.

shopping: meine guete ist das cool hier! am samstag waren wir an der oxford street, ziemlich viel los da (fast zu viel...). haben uns den ganzen nachmittag im topshop und urban outfitters verweilt... am sonntag waren wir dann noch am camden market. war ziemlich witzig und auch da gibts jede menge sachen...

essen: ja, man isst hier wirklich gut; verliert einfach einige pfunde - nicht am bauch sondern in der geldboerse :(

museen: waren schon mal in der photographers gallery, weiteres folgt

accommondation: ist soweit auch oke. wie bereits erwaehnt, mit den katzen habe ich meine liebe muehe... die klopfen im der nacht am fenster oder an der tuer, schleichen sich immer in mein zimmer, erschrecken mich waehrend den fruehstuck (streichen da immer um den tisch herum), ...

so, ich muss schon wieder weiter... gehen heute abend noch ins kino :)

meld mich bald wieder (dann in english und mit fotos)...

1. eindruck

hello :)



nach der party am samstag abend (war ja ganz schoen cool, merci nochmals!) bin ich am sonntag gut angekommen. accomondation ist oke (meine host hat 3 katzen; die machen mir noch ein wenig zu schaffen, details ein ander mal), schule ist auch gut (noch nicht allzu streng. im businnes english haben wir einen ziemlich lustigen lehrer - tony; zu ihm auch ein ander mal mehr...), die leute sind auch ganz cool (viele schweizer halt und auch viele asiaten) und london ist sowieso super :) war bis jetzt jeden tag im zentrum... ueber den ausgang gibts noch nicht viel zu sagen, am montag gingen wir kurz was trinken, gestern bin ich ganz nach dem motto stay clean zu hause geblieben...

bin gerade noch zu hause und richte diesen blog ein... ihr sollt ja auch wissen was ich in london so treibe.
